Game of Thrones: Season 2 trailer

Not like this outstanding and ultra hyped (which it more than meets) series needs any more promotion. But damn it if I’m not excited for what the next 10 chapters in Westeros will bring (and from the looks of it, the producers could very well have exceeded the first season’s $5 million/ep budget). In addition, season 1 comes out in stores tomorrow (March 6th). I will be picking up the blu-ray package from Best Buy which includes an exclusive bonus letter opener in the form of a sweet mini sword! Great for slicing open those villainous monthly bills (or stabbing someone whom you’re not fond of). However I don’t think anything will top the incredibly apropos bonus flask that came included with the blu-ray package for Boardwalk Empire season 1 (which I received as a birthday present). HBO knows bonus gifts (and their premium programming is pretty good too).

Relevant bonus: Last night’s ep of The Simpsons (currently in the midst of a strong season which included episode #500) featured one of the greatest couch gags that the storied series has ever done: a truly amazing Springfieldian homage to the breathtaking Game of Thrones opening credits. Simpsons did it (yet again).

Community s02e19 “Critical Film Studies”

“Of course, Spock probably goes without saying…” There is no other single character on television that I identify more with than Abed Nadir from Community. I don’t exactly look or talk like him (nor do I blink fast), but the way that character thinks and operates really hits home with me (although I still aspire to attain Abed’s Buddhist-like temperament). The Community ep from last season perfectly titled “Critical Film Studies” (still my personal favourite chapter in the amazing series) is indescribable in its beauty and genius (both on a cerebral and emotional level) and is precisely what sealed the deal/convinced me that Abed is truly one of the greatest characters in television history (it also made me realize why exactly I watch/write about so much yet somehow still not enough TV in the first place).
But moving onto the main reason for reblogging this 8 month-old post: congratulations to Danny Pudi and the Community writers for Abed rightfully being named the best character on TV for 2011 by Paste Magazine. If you’ve got 22-30 minutes to spare, tune into NBC at 8PM this Thursday (and then sometime in the spring) to help save the best show on network television (a well-informed opinion that is certainly not unique to me). FYI, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire gets my personal nod for best series in all of entertainment currently; only one ep remaining in what has been an unbelievably rich(harrow) second season for what I feel is the first true successor to The Sopranos. I honesty don’t know where I’d be without quality programming (food for the brain and warmth for the heart).

The Ricky Gervais Show: Se2 Ep1 - Clive Warren (featuring the glorious return of Karl's Diary!)

Didn't do much this morning. Just sat by the pool, saving insects that flew into it.
*laughing uncontrollably* I'm gonna die! Like fucking Noah! That's crazy! Nothing...
How were you saving them? Did you wait for them to hit the water? Then fish them out or you grabbed them in the air?
I stuck my finger on the top. They grabbed on, lifted it off.
And what, like some sort of insect lifeguard, you'd see some that landed and then go "Right, that's me" *humming A-Team theme song* and you'd go in there?
But it's hard to turn sort of a blind eye to stuff like that. 'Cause you know that's something, you know...you're witnessing death. And if you can save something, you do don't you? You do your bit. And at night, I'd sort of think "Have they learned their lesson or will they be back and will they be dead in there tomorrow?" But if they can get an extra day, I've done my bit. I can't do more than that. I am on holiday; do your bit. I'm lucky enough to see the world; do your bit.
I love it...
I did my bit.
I love it. I love it. I love the fact that he was running around saving flies and things.
It's just something...there's something so sort of...
Meanwhile, an old lady drowned...
*laughing* Yeah.
...while he was saving a beetle.

Parks and Recreation - Season 2, Ep 21: 94 Meetings

Excuse me, I had a meeting with Ron Swanson yesterday, but I have a little car trouble.
Sorry, he's busy right now. (Shot of Ron in the background, carving a wooden duck in his office)
Oh, uh. Well, can I reschedule?
Sure. Hmm. How about...June 50th?
Sorry?
Do you think you can come back today at 2:65? He's available then.
What is going on?
Looks like the only other day he has open is March-tember one-teenth. Does that work, sir?
*walks away confused*

“The Huey Freeman Hunger Strike”.

One of the two banned Boondocks eps from the second season. I preferred this one over “The Uncle Ruckus Reality Show”. Especially during a season which lacked a decent amount of Huey-centred eps (but it was still a great season…DVD-cop-worthy, fo’ sho’).
