"Astonishment is our natural state of mind." - Paul Harris.
"Style is what an artist uses to fascinate the beholder in order to convey to him his feelings and emotions and thoughts." - Stanley Kubrick.
"Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it." - Bruce Lee.
"If ya ears hurt, you shouldn't listen. That means you artificial and my style'll poison ya brain tissue." - Black Thought
"I also believed that comics were capable of more than just making people laugh. So in my themes I incorporated tears, grief, anger, and hate, and I created stories where the ending was not always happy." - Osamu Tezuka
Best. Meme. Ever.
Kubrick (another one of my idols) indeed contacted Tezuka to join the 2001: A Space Odyssey art direction team (based on the revolutionary strength of the original 1960s Astro Boy anime), a request that the God of Manga famously declined (like a bawse!).
After 5 years on Tumblr (I was one of the first 4000 users on this service), I’ve never felt obligated to cosign another tumblelog…until now. So if you have ANY interest in manga/anime, I implore you to follow Osamu Tezuka’s Panels. They do good work (truly amazing).
Was Saved By The Bell a comedy or drama? Every week some student got molested, killed, hooked on drugs, abused, raped, sent away somewhere vague, or almost expelled. Glad this video could clear up the tone.
And the last clip in this video must be from the College Years which I never watched. Although it looks like there was a Full House crossover where Zack Morris raped D.J. Tanner. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
This is hilarious. Try your best not to laugh and you will fail gloriously at some point during all the inappropriate woo’ing.
Edit: This is my first Tumblr post/reblog of 2K12 (been wasting way more of my time on Twitter lately). Yeah, I sure know how to pick ‘em, no doubt.
“Whaaa?” Can’t help but shake my head that Community (whose recent Christmas ep “Regional Holiday Music” brilliantly parodied Glee with an Invasion of the Body Snatchers style plot) now sits on the shelf, presumably located somewhere on the island of misfit toys (while shows like the aforesaid Glee continue airing to relatively high ratings). In any misguided event, I feel that this viddy deserves to be posted every holiday season (and I will try to try).
It’s that time again! Time to re-post the most hilarious Halloween-related/Pumpkinhead/Ghostbusters goofy dance routine you will ever see. Have a frightfully good eeeeevening, everyone!
The long-awaited Part 4 of David Blaine Street Magic has arrived! Part 2 is still my favourite, but this is certainly a worthy entry into the hilarious parody series. It’s all about the stare. “WHAT THE EFF?”
Jason Voorhees expertly utilizing the rope-a-dope on poor Julius Gaw. An already absurd moment made even more hilarious via the usage of the Rocky theme. From Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan which, although far from the best in the Friday The 13th series (IMO the Jason saga peaked with Part IV: The Final Chapter, a film that was part of my second annual “31 Days of Night” horrorthon in October 2K10), is certainly the most odd, campy, as well as severely dated (read: shamelessly 80s) Friday The 13th film of the bunch (and that counts for something).
Bob Odenkirk: the master of spontaneous sketch comedy anger (amongst other things). Here is a lovely montage of the man yelling on the legendary Mr. Show with Bob and David.
Second to the last clip (taken from this brilliant skit) is my personal favourite example of angry Bob (the rumbling bass in dude’s voice is a thing of hilarious beauty).
Kyle Mooney aka “Nephew Kyle” from the brilliant Sports Show with Norm MacDonald (the wrongful cancellation of which I am still coming to terms with) thankfully hasn’t stopped producing these masterfully awkward video segments (all while keeping his Windows 95 clip art/nonsensical transition skills on point). In this latest chapter entitled “ball champions”, Kyle attends the Dodgers/Giants baseball game at AT&T Park in San Francisco. And like with all clever guerrilla comedians, dude is totally fearless in his quest to instigate some hilariously bizarre moments with his unsuspecting interview subjects. Happy Halloween! *cue midi file theme*
Hilarious reaction to a major spoiler that occurs at the conclusion of the penultimate ep from the first season of the superb Game of Thrones (don’t watch the vid or read any further if you wish to not spoil your own viewing of said ep). Generally speaking, second-to-last eps on HBO series are known for being the highly emotional peak of the season (this was true with The Sopranos, The Wire and Boardwalk Empire, just to name a few) with the finale playing the role of clean up. And last night’s Throne ep entitled “Baelor” carried on tradition in a ballsy way. So to paraphrase a certain Mr. West: Eddard gone; my n*gga Ned!
Seriously though, this unbelievable (and massively hyped) HBO series does not f*ck around as there’s been nary a slow moment over the course of its nearly completed, tightly packed 10 ep inaugural season (where 1 season = 1 book). And clearly, when a main character is in danger, it’s a considerable threat and not the usual narrative feint; a clear warning to avoid getting too attached to anyone (although I hope my boy Tyrion continues his lucky streak and never perishes). Speaking of which, I’ve never read any of the books and medieval fantasy epics aren’t really my thing. But straight up, Game of Thrones has been far more entertaining, twisted and brutally realistic then what I was expecting from the genre (and I think homeboy in the viddy will agree with me).
In this wonderful DVR age that we currently live in, I never missed a single ep (on the evening that it aired) of this most majestically ambitious (and expensive) new series of the year (and studying the family trees while peeping the eps certainly helped in sorting out the multiple intricate plots). It’s always a pleasant surprise when a show exceeds expectations. But when those expectations were pretty damn high to begin with (again, I never read the books but based things solely on HBO’s promotional machine), it is all the more impressive. Simply put, the geniuses at HBO did it again (for those who appreciate ultra fine programming, this top shelf stuff is worth paying for). Season 1 finale this Sunday at 9PM on HBO HD.
Bonus: The majestic GoT intro remains as one of the best openings I’ve ever seen for a TV series (gets me mad hyped every time).
