"Astonishment is our natural state of mind." - Paul Harris.

"Style is what an artist uses to fascinate the beholder in order to convey to him his feelings and emotions and thoughts." - Stanley Kubrick.

"Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself, do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it." - Bruce Lee.

"If ya ears hurt, you shouldn't listen. That means you artificial and my style'll poison ya brain tissue." - Black Thought

"I also believed that comics were capable of more than just making people laugh. So in my themes I incorporated tears, grief, anger, and hate, and I created stories where the ending was not always happy." - Osamu Tezuka

“Whaaa?” Can’t help but shake my head that Community (whose recent Christmas ep “Regional Holiday Music” brilliantly parodied Glee with an Invasion of the Body Snatchers style plot) now sits on the shelf, presumably located somewhere on the island of misfit toys (while shows like the aforesaid Glee continue airing to relatively high ratings). In any misguided event, I feel that this viddy deserves to be posted every holiday season (and I will try to try).

Community s02e19 “Critical Film Studies”

“Of course, Spock probably goes without saying…” There is no other single character on television that I identify more with than Abed Nadir from Community. I don’t exactly look or talk like him (nor do I blink fast), but the way that character thinks and operates really hits home with me (although I still aspire to attain Abed’s Buddhist-like temperament). The Community ep from last season perfectly titled “Critical Film Studies” (still my personal favourite chapter in the amazing series) is indescribable in its beauty and genius (both on a cerebral and emotional level) and is precisely what sealed the deal/convinced me that Abed is truly one of the greatest characters in television history (it also made me realize why exactly I watch/write about so much yet somehow still not enough TV in the first place).
But moving onto the main reason for reblogging this 8 month-old post: congratulations to Danny Pudi and the Community writers for Abed rightfully being named the best character on TV for 2011 by Paste Magazine. If you’ve got 22-30 minutes to spare, tune into NBC at 8PM this Thursday (and then sometime in the spring) to help save the best show on network television (a well-informed opinion that is certainly not unique to me). FYI, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire gets my personal nod for best series in all of entertainment currently; only one ep remaining in what has been an unbelievably rich(harrow) second season for what I feel is the first true successor to The Sopranos. I honesty don’t know where I’d be without quality programming (food for the brain and warmth for the heart).

Thank you @danharmon for bringing this amazing flier being posted around a college campus to our attention.

This is precisely why we can’t have nice shows. Because viewers (unlike myself) have been regularly watching something else on Thursdays at 8PM. There are very few programs out there that have inspired me to geekily write endless paragraphs of comments on my own Miso check-ins detailing my undying appreciation for the staggering amount of genius that the cast & crew cram into the half hour of cerebral situational comedy that is Community: a thinking person’s show (with a heart) that will make you laugh, whether you get many of the obscure references or not (and you don’t even have to pay those worthwhile HBO prices!). On the other hand, if you’re a fan who DLs new Community eps and/or records them on your D/PVR for later viewing, at least try to have your box/TV tuned into the channel at the allotted time so the clueless network execs can get the irrelevant ratings that they demand over a quality product.
This past week’s programming shake-up announcement is definitely the worst decision by NBC since the brutal Conan/Tonight Show fiasco. Community (edit: and The Roots on Late Night) is pretty much the only reason why I tune into the No Brains Clearly network these days. And although said puzzling decision to “bench” (which unofficially means that a program will not be renewed without having to use the dreaded “cancel” term) Community in January has already been made, the viewership can at least ensure that this brilliant, under-appreciated show has strong support throughout the remainder of its third (and most likely final) season, while perhaps convincing those culture-less execs to miraculously green light a fourth season (a truly sweet bonus that would be). So please, do your part to #SaveCommunity (You Should!).

Abed as Batman and Troy as Spider-Man? Yeah, that’s the kind of world I want to live in.

Community - Season 1, Episode 25: Pascal's Triangle Revisited

Last call. *turns off the study hall lights*
*sighs* Study over. *turns off the lights*
*enters the room holding a now half-eaten gigantic 60-inch diameter cookie* What are you doing?
Just giving things a finale vibe.
Well, how's this for a finale vibe? Pierce asked me to move in with him. In his MANSION.
More of a spin-off vibe. But you should do it.
I thought we were friends!
We are. Best friends. That's why we shouldn't be roommates. We'll end up fighting. And putting a masking tape line down the middle of our room.
We just won't get masking tape!
Troy, you should live with someone who you like. But whose friendship wouldn't be altered because of constant irritation. That's Pierce. If you and I move in, we jump the shark. That'll end it.
Well, maybe YOU'RE ending it. *begins to walk away then comes back* Oh, and for the record. There was an episode of Happy Days where a guy LITERALLY jumped over a shark. And it was the BEST one! *walks away while taking another bite of the gigantic cookie*
*shaking his head amidst the darkness of the room*

NBC - Community: Modern Warfare - TV.com

Rare appearance of the full opening credit sequence + “Freeze, Mamma Jamma!” + The hilarity of who died first (“I am not an ambassador!”) + Shots @ Glee (“Write some original songs!”) + “I thought it was paint, but I’m just bleeding.” + Long awaited relieving of sexual tension + Numerous action film references: In particular T2, The Warriors, Die Hard, The Killer (Senor Chang channeling Chow Yun-Fat near the conclusion gave me goosebumps) + Genuinely well-executed and suspenseful paintball action scenes amidst the background of a post-apocalyptic school environment = G.O.A.T. ep of Community (and that’s saying something). Wow. How could Modern Warfare not be the season finale? This could possibly be the best 22 minutes of TV that I’ve witnessed this season (and that’s saying something too).

Alison Brie: Funny Joke from a Beautiful Woman

A guy walks into a bar and sees a sign that reads, “Cheese sandwich $3.50. Chicken sandwich $4.50. Handjob $5.” He checks his wallet and calls over the waitress. He asks, “Are you the one who does the handjob?”
She smiles at him seductively and says, “I am.”
He says, “Well, wash your friggin’ hands. I want a cheese sandwich.”

New eps of the lead-off batter and the most interesting/slept on part of NBC’s mega Thursday night lineup begin next week. Until then, you have this picture (and accompanying dirty joke) to keep you company.
