art-of-wrasslin: The mirror speaks, the reflection lies… Give me Punk vs. Austin at WrestleMania, please. The promos from both sides of this potential angle will no doubt be legendary. I truly believe that Punk’s superb work during the past month are the seeds that will eventually bloom into the next mainstream pro-wrestling boom period somewhere within the next 5 years. The man himself has said that his goal is to make wrestling cool again. And I’ll be damned if he isn’t doing a fine job in accomplishing that. Now it’s just up to the casual viewers to tune into RAW again and enjoy the weekly cliffhanger-laden drama that the WWE has been on a rare roll with lately.Punk’s “Best In The World” white ringer tee may very well turn out to be the “Austin 3:16” black tee of this generation. And I want one (and will cop a medium when I attend RAW live in Ottawa this September). After all, hot-selling merch is a major way that fans can let WWE know which characters to push on TV. So to all you little kids that have been getting your parents to buy you John Cena merch for the past 6 years, thank you for supporting some of the most uninspired wrestling programming I have ever seen in the 23 years that I’ve been a fan (punks). Thankfully, the tide is finally turning. So be sure to tune into RAW on Monday night to peep why Punk has returned to the show so quickly (with rogue belt in hand) as the brilliant era of Punk continues on.
